Shame on Lane Kiffin..

By Ryan Foray

We always see it during this time of the year in sports. After the long seasons, coaches are fired, hired, resign, retire, etc. Pete Carroll is now back in the NFL with Seattle, and now to top that, Lane Kiffin is now the new head coach at USC after one year in Tennessee.
I can understand Pete Carroll taking the opportunity to be back in the big leagues, but my god Lane Kiffin…where’s the loyalty?
A year ago you were talking about how you wanted to build Tennessee back to its glory days, wanting to “sing Rocky top all night long after they beat Florida next year.” You wanted to take part in the tradition of the Vols. You wanted to bring the Vols back to its glory days, and lead them to be a top contender in the BCS standings for years to come. What changed your mind?
Sure, you were an assistant coach and Offensive Coordinator at USC, so I can see the connections. Unfortunately, you going to a “dream job in Southern California” is leaving a bitter taste in Tennessee’s mouth.
Once again, Kiffin is in the middle of a coaching controversy. Maybe Al Davis wasn’t crazy when he fired Kiffin from the Raiders.
The biggest loser of course is going to be the Tennessee Football program. Their top recruit has announced he plans on transferring due to Kiffin’s decision.
No word yet on who will be the new head coach for the Vol’s (maybe pay a few extra zero’s to Bill Cowher’s name perhaps?) , but rest assure that when it comes to scheduling out of conference in the few years for both teams, the entire state of Tennessee would love to get a chance to swipe at Kiffin.
